Thanos Stratikopoulos from the TornadoVM team in UNIMAN presented at OCX 2026 the journey of TornadoVM from academia to open-source success. TornadoVM is an open-source technology supported by AERO to enable Java applications to run efficiently on heterogeneous hardware accelerators in a programmer-friendly way.
This presentation highlighted the evolution of TornadoVM, its growing ecosystem, and how it enables developers to seamlessly target multi-core CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs using a single Java API.
